We may store limited payment information such as:

  • payment status;

3. How we collect your information

We collect information when:

  • you use the wet belt checker;

  • you submit an enquiry or contact form;
  • you call, email or message us;
  • Stripe confirms a payment;
  • DVLA/DVSA or other vehicle data sources return vehicle information;
  • you browse or interact with our website.

4. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • provide the wet belt checker result;
  • generate and deliver paid wet belt reports;
  • email report links, PDF downloads and receipts;
  • contact you about manual confirmation cases;

  • meet legal, tax, accounting and compliance obligations.

5. Lawful basis for using your information

Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for processing personal data. Depending on the situation, we may rely on:

Contract

Where we need to process your information to provide a paid report, respond to a service request, or take steps before entering into a booking or service agreement.

Legitimate interests

Where processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as responding to enquiries, improving our services, maintaining records, preventing fraud, securing our website and following up on report requests.

Legal obligation

Where we need to retain information for tax, accounting, legal or regulatory reasons.

Consent

Where we rely on consent for optional marketing communications or certain cookies, where applicable.

6. Paid wet belt reports

When you purchase a paid report, we use the information submitted through the checker, together with available vehicle data, to generate an advisory report.

The report is based on registration-led vehicle data, DVLA/DVSA information where available, and EDH Wet Belt Centre matching rules. Reports are advisory only and are not a 100% confirmation that a wet belt is or is not fitted. A physical inspection, exact engine-code confirmation and service-history review may still be required.

Paid report PDFs are stored securely and accessed through a tokenised download link. Report links and PDF access are available for 30 days. After 30 days, the PDF file may be automatically deleted from secure storage. We may keep backend order/report records for legitimate business, accounting and audit purposes.

7. Manual confirmation reports

If a paid report result requires manual confirmation, we may send a follow-up email explaining that the automated rules could not safely confirm the result. In those cases, a member of our team may contact you within 24 hours using the contact details you provided.

8. Who we share information with

We may share personal information with trusted third parties where necessary, including:

  • Stripe, for secure payment processing;
  • website hosting providers;
  • email delivery providers;
  • IT support or website maintenance providers;
  • professional advisers such as accountants or legal advisers;
  • regulatory, legal or law-enforcement bodies where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

9. International transfers

Some service providers, such as payment or email technology providers, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we expect appropriate safeguards to be in place, such as UK-approved contractual protections or equivalent safeguards.

10. How long we keep your information

We only keep personal information for as long as necessary.

Typical retention periods are:

  • Paid report PDF access: available for 30 days, then the PDF may be deleted.
  • Paid report/order records: retained for accounting, audit and business record purposes.
  • Enquiry records: retained for as long as needed to respond to the enquiry and manage follow-up.
  • Payment records: retained as required for tax, accounting and fraud-prevention purposes.
  • Website/security logs: retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes.

If no fixed retention period applies, we decide how long to keep information based on the type of information, the reason it was collected, legal/accounting requirements, and whether it may be needed to resolve a query or dispute.

11. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including:

  • secure website access using HTTPS;
  • restricted access to backend systems;
  • tokenised report links;
  • secure report storage;
  • payment processing through Stripe;
  • security monitoring and access controls.

No website or online system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.

12. Cookies and analytics

Where required, non-essential cookies should only be used with your consent. You can usually control cookies through your browser settings or any cookie banner/settings provided on the website.

We will only send marketing communications where we have a lawful basis to do so. You can unsubscribe or object to marketing at any time by using the unsubscribe link, where provided, or by contacting us.

We will still be able to send service-related messages, such as paid report emails, receipts, booking information or responses to enquiries.
